We increased the volume. Then decreased the volume.
To put it another way, we made it roomier, then made it quieter. But let’s start with the interior space. The reinvented 2012 Camry may not be larger on the outside, but it is more spacious inside.
By reshaping the door panels and headliner, you enjoy more legroom and more headroom. And by reshaping the dashboard, the pillars and repositioning the sun visors, we opened up the outside view to increase the overall sense of spaciousness. It feels airier, lighter, and lets in a little more of the outside world.
But that does not include outside noise. Using sound-imaging equipment, extensive tests were conducted to pinpoint the places where engine and road noise were entering the cabin. These were quieted by sound-absorbing measures, providing a whisper-quiet ride to go with the outstandingly roomy feel.
